About Us

Ohio Alley Cat Rescue began when a feral cat we named Kiko, that we had been feeding for several months, brought us her litter on May 5, 2025. Her three kittens were three weeks old. The entire family had worms and the Queen was dehydrated, weak, and had a severed tail. Under the guidance of our veterinarian, we nursed Kiko back to health. In June 2025, she was spayed and her tail was amputated. Following recovery in our home, Kiko was released back to the outdoors. She visits us daily. She was a wonderful mother and her babies thrived. In November 2025, each kitten was adopted, finding their forever homes.

In Upper Sandusky, as is the case in many areas, there is an over population of stray and abandoned cats in need of care. Animal shelters are at over capacity.

Ohio Alley Cat Rescue was created as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization to rescue, rehabilitate, and care for and find loving permanent homes for stray, abandoned, and unwanted cats in Wyandot County.  Our cats are housed in a "no time limit" free-roaming environment.

At Ohio Alley Cat Rescue, we strongly advocate for responsible pet ownership and the protection of animal rights. Our identity reflects hope and compassion, symbolizing our commitment to making a difference in the lives of cats.

Our Mission

Committed to Cat Welfare

Our commitment is to provide high-quality care and support to meet the welfare goals of every cat in our care. We are a no-kill shelter.

Ohio Alley Cat Rescue places a high priority on the well-being of every cat, offering personalized care to meet individual needs. We ensure the comfort and safety of every cat, providing reliable and compassionate care.

We are dedicated to ensuring the best possible outcomes through veterinary medicine. As such, our cats are under the care of Cats Only Veterinary Clinic and are up to date on all of their vaccinations, are spayed or neutered, and receive a monthly flea, tick and worm preventative treatment.

Ohio Alley Cat Rescue supports the growing movement to protect cats from declawing, one of the most painful and unnecessary surgeries still being performed. Ohio Senate Bill 252 (S.B. 252) would make it illegal to declaw cats in Ohio, "except in rare cases where it is medically necessary for the animal’s health." Declawing is already banned in "at least 42 countries" according to Alley Cat Allies.

Momentum is building! If Ohio were to ban declawing, our State would join California, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, Virginia, and the District of Columbia who have already passed declawing bans.

Want to help? Please contact your Ohio Senator and urge them to support the bill. Wyandot County is in Ohio Senate District 26, represented by Senator Bill Reineke; he also serves Crawford, Marion, Morrow, Sandusky, Seneca, and Union Counties. If you are in a county not listed, please  find your senator here. Thank you.

Surrender

Surrendering Services

We offer cat and kitten surrender services for felines in need of a loving home. Our team is dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating animals to find them their forever families.

IMG_0912.jpeg

Step 1:  Submit Surrender Form

If you are interested in surrendering a cat, please fill out and submit our  Surrender/Intake Form.

Due to our large volume of requests, we suggest that you begin the rehoming process several weeks in advance. We must have a space available to take in your cat.

Sadly, we can only accept cats from Wyandot County. If you live in another county, please call your local humane society.

hannah_mabel.jpg

Step 2:  Pay Surrender Fee

The $40.00 surrender fee must be submitted online prior to your surrendering your animal.

Please wait to pay the fee until your surrender form has been approved. The average cost of care for a cat during their stay with us is $350.00.

Proceeds from the surrender fee helps us provide medical care, food, and shelter to cats in need. Every dollar counts towards saving lives.

Papa Sumi_edited.jpg

Step 3: Day of Surrender

Our hours for surrendering are flexible. We will work with you to find a time that works best for you.

On the agreed upon date and time, please transport your cat securely in a sturdy carrier with no loose/broken pieces.

When you arrive, please have your ID ready and call us from your vehicle. We will meet you outside to collect the cat.

After we move the cat inside, we will conduct the intake. Once complete, we will either return your cat and your $40 fee, or we will accept your cat and return your carrier to you and you may depart. The surrender process typically takes 10-15 minutes.
